# ChargingAtlas

> ChargingAtlas is a free US public EV charging-station directory, organized by city, built entirely on the U.S. Department of Energy's NREL Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC) open data. Every page is computed deterministically from NREL records — no AI-generated prose. Each city page shows station counts, the Level 2 vs DC-fast split, operating networks, connector types (J1772, CCS, NACS/Tesla, CHAdeMO, NEMA), and which stations list free charging. No app and no login required.

Coverage: California only at launch (~534 cities, ~19,000 public stations); more US states are being added. Data is refreshed weekly from NREL AFDC.

Important: ChargingAtlas is NOT a live availability map — a listed charger can be busy, broken, or gated; confirm current status in the charging network's own app. ChargingAtlas is independent and not affiliated with NREL, the U.S. Department of Energy, or any charging network. Trademarks belong to their owners.
